Before we left for Nepal on 17.10.2023, we organized a solidarity party for our projects in Nepal and for the Seapunks on 14.10.
Frank Schollenberger made Hafenkontor 57 on the banks of the Warnow available to us for the event. A fantastic location for our cause.
The attendance was overwhelming. We estimate that there were between 300 and 400 people at the start. Many friends brought home-baked cakes for the cake bazaar and the afternoon was already exceptionally well attended from 4pm.
Ron from Sequential Art was there with a book table and the Sea Punks had an information stand.
Ron von Sequential Art war mit einem Büchertisch vor Ort und die Sea Punks hatten einen Infostand.
We started with a talk about 20 years of "Rostkloppers going to Kathmandu" and an outlook on what we had planned for Nepal in 2023.
On our trip in October/November 2023, we supported our friend Prem from Karma Flights in his project to bring winter jackets for children to the mountains in Lower Dolpo in western Nepal. The jackets were sewn locally in Nepal.
However, as we did not want to close our eyes to what is happening on our doorstep, we invited the Seapunks. After our talk, they presented the work of the Sea Punks in sea rescue in the Mediterranean.
You don't let people drown. Period!
The catastrophic situation in the world forces us to show solidarity where hopelessness and despair prevail, but dreams also play a role to which every person in this world has a right. Sea rescue is hard work and costs a lot of money. We are happy to be able to make a small contribution by supporting the Sea Punks.
From 7 p.m. onwards
„Möwe und Die Ölmützen“
Shantypunk with stadium chants
started musically.
Well-meaning tongues call them scoundrels, rogues, drunkards or stable guys of the old school. That's all true, but first and foremost they are friends who don't despise life, have a keen sense for the right tone and hit it after sensible drinking breaks. It goes without saying that some oil caps are also rust-buckets.
With the raffle we continued.
The draw manager was none other than our "national representative for love and harmony" Mudu. Also known to many as part of "Fiete und Schiete". As all the tickets were sold, the draw went off without much cheating. A big thank you goes out to Mudu, who hosted us through the entire event.
Then we continued with our friends from
„Zum Anker“
Better known as the Shantyfaust from Rostock. The herring would say, now we have the salad. A highlight of the evening was their spontaneous Nepal anthem.
And at the end, they really hit us in the face.
„Renderer“
unpacked the combine harvester and mowed down everything in front of the stage. The evening couldn't have ended any better.
Pesto-Peter and his crew conjured up delicious Nepalese food with pani pori pakora, marinated lentils and flatbread with salad. He also took care of the catering for everyone who contributed to the event that day. Thank you Peter. If you're hungry during the week, his base camp is in the Rosengarden.
It was a successful evening at Hafenkontor 57 and all in all 1550,- oi in donations were collected:
500,- Seapunks
500,- Children home
550,- Karma Flights
Stand before the party:
2000,- donation account
500,- Event „Rote Erde“
270,- Donations during our tour in Nepal
This makes a total amount of 4320,- oi in 2023
In addition to the Seapunks and the children's home, we were able to finance around 350 winter jackets for the children in western Nepal and then distribute them there on our trip. Lower Dolpo is one of the poorest regions in Nepal.
Thank you, without you this would not have been possible:
